Tribler es un cliente de BitTorrent diferente. Te ofrece:

Tribler es una aplicación que permite a sus usuarios encontrar, disfrutar y compartir contenido. Por contenido, nos referimos a video, audio, imágenes y mucho más. Tribler tiene tres objetivos para ayudarte, el usuario:
- Encontrar contenido:
- Búsqueda por palabras clave: A través de nuestra funcionalidad de búsqueda mejorada, puedes buscar en el contenido de otros usuarios de Tribler y en el contenido de grandes portales de video como Youtube y Liveleak.
- Navegar en diferentes categorías: Puedes navegar a través de diferentes categorías como video, audio, imágenes, etc. También puedes ver qué es lo más popular y lo que se ha hecho disponible recientemente. Todas estas funcionalidades te ayudarán definitivamente a encontrar algo que te guste.
- Ver lo que les gusta a amigos y vecinos de gustos similares: Al hacer amigos y ponerte en contacto con usuarios de gustos similares, puedes encontrar contenido que te pueda interesar. Tú mismo también puedes mostrar a tus amigos lo que te gusta y lo que definitivamente deberían ver.
- Consumir contenido: Gracias al reproductor de video y audio integrado, puedes comenzar casi inmediatamente a ver tus videos favoritos o escuchar tus canciones favoritas.
- Compartir contenido: Tribler es una aplicación social. Esto significa que puedes hacer amigos con otros usuarios y puedes mostrar a todos lo que te gusta y lo que no. Y al compartir tu contenido, también ayudas a otros usuarios de Tribler a disfrutar de su contenido favorito.

- La característica principal de esta versión es la auto-generación de etiquetas de torrent a partir de títulos de torrents que funcionan en segundo plano.
- Además, la versión contiene numerosas correcciones de errores.
- La base de código de Tribler fue significativamente refactorizada para hacer que el desarrollo futuro sea más rápido.

With the "single point of failure" vulnerabilities inherent in bittorrent (the recent takedown of TPB proved it) Tribler offers some promising technological innovations. But of course what it offers is only as good as people's willingness to use it, and if it's not easy to install and use then it will severely limit the userbase. Here's what happened in my case:
"Tribler has encountered a fatal error, and will now terminate. A Python runtime not could be located. You may need to install a framework build of Python, or edit the PyRuntimeLocations array in this application's info.plist file."
Seriously? I bought a Mac to keep things simple. I realize this is just a university research project, but I hope it develops into something that doesn't require a linux-head to install it.

No option to turn off "Click below to explore what's hot" which wastes your bandwidth showing you what other people are searching for. While looking at this nonsense, I get to have extremely vile, illegal search words come up on my screen.
We need to be able to turn this OFF.
Also, there many other interface issues that seem half-baked and/or don't work including checking port health, etc. and actual incomplete sentences in the settings, etc. It's amateur hour.
Tribler isn't ready for primetime. I'm ditching this and might revisit down the road.

Should you want to remove Tribler 0.00 from your machine (I'm not being rude that is what it calls itself) may I recommend Cleanapp...
Seriously, this isn't a serious program. As you turn it on for the first time, notice how it forces you to save downloads to Desktop. One of those people who just keeps their desktop completely clear and actually locks it because you have your downloads kept somewhere else? Yeah? Well tough. There they must go, otherwise you will endure a python error and a forced exit. But surely there must be some way that once you grant the app this access, avoiding said Python error, surely then you can go in and change the download location to one of your choosing, right? Wrongamundo dudo!
To me this just seems like some sort of antediluvian P2P system that was around until everyone started using Napster in the late 1990's - until we see *encryption* and widespread take-up what is the point of this? You too will probably be asking yourself this question, if you can be bothered too.
Maybe check back here later to see whether they've actually made this the tool people would actually want.
